Bank of America Prepaid Card

Please select a question to learn more about it:

A:  What is a Bank of America Prepaid Card?

A Bank of America Prepaid Card (Card) is a prepaid VISA debit card. A player who wins a prize greater than $600 and up to and including $10,000 can request to have their net prize value loaded onto one of these Cards. The Card can be used anywhere the VISA brand is accepted.

B:  Where can I get a Card?

Effective, June 24, 2018, a player who wins a prize of greater than $600 and up to and including $10,000 will be able to request a Card instead of a check when they claim a prize at the Sterling Heights Lottery regional office. These Cards will be available at the remaining Lottery regional offices which are located in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, Livonia, and Saginaw, in the near future. Currently, there are no plans to offer these Cards at the Bank Claim Centers or the Secretary of State Branch offices.

C:  What type of card is the Card?

This Card is a prepaid VISA debit card - not a credit card.  Funds are limited to the available Card balance. Each purchase or withdrawal is deducted from the Card so the cardholder will want to keep track of the Card balance.

D:  How do I activate my Card?

Visit www.bankofamerica.com/governmentcard, select “Activate My Card” or call 866.213.4074 (TTY 866.656.5913).

E:  Can I add money to my Card?

No, these Cards are not reloadable.  These Cards can only be loaded one time by a participating Lottery Regional Office for winning prizes of greater than $600 and up to and including $10,000.  Limit one prize per card.

F:  Where can I use my Card?

The Card can be used anywhere Visa is accepted.

G:  How do I use my Card to make purchases or get cash back at the time of purchase?

Processes vary depending on the place of purchase, so follow directions at the point of sale. Remember your Personal Identification Number (PIN) created during card activation. Typically, the point of sale will recognize the card as a debit card, then ask for a PIN.  A PIN will be required for cash back purchases. For purchases without cash back, selecting “Credit” is an alternative choice and does not require a PIN.

H:  What are the applicable fees associated with this Card?

I:  What do I do if my Card is lost or stolen?

Bank of America customer service is available 24/7.  Visit www.bankofamerica.com/governmentcard or call 866.213.4074 (TTY 866.656.5913).  If a cardholder is currently outside the United States, call collect at 1.423.262.1650.

If a Card is ever lost or stolen, Bank of America will reimburse for any unauthorized Card transactions, subject to certain terms and conditions set forth in the deposit agreement, which was provided in the original Card packaging received when the Card was loaded.

J:  How do I get my Card balance?

L:  Can I withdraw funds from my Card?

To get cash at the ATM, insert your Card into the machine and enter your PIN.  Select “checking” to make a withdrawal and enter the amount of cash you want to withdraw.
