How to Tell if It's a Scam

Last Updated: Dec 15, 2014 01:09PM EST
The Michigan Lottery would never contact you if you are a winner of the Mega Millions, Powerball, or any other drawing-based game. Winners of these games must contact Lottery Public Relations to verify Lottery winnings on Lottery tickets. Even if you receive a phone call or an email stating it's from the Michigan Lottery, unless the call comes from a 517 area code or a michigan.gov email address, it's likely a scam and you shouldn't provide any money or personal information.

If you are selected as a winner in a 2nd Chance Drawing, the Michigan Lottery Public Relations team will contact you directly by using the telephone or email information found in your Players Club profile. The number contacting you will be a (517) area code and the email will be a michigan.gov email address. All prizes that do not require identity and proof of ticket verification will be shipped directly to the address obtained from your Players Club profile.
